'Til the gates of heaven open up!

This week has not been an easy one. It has been extremely difficult and emotionally draining, but with all its obstacles, I realized that I have so many people who love me and who want the best for me.
I woke up to a beautiful message the other morning. The message read:
“Let me talk about this amazing woman for a second…
She is the first of my partner’s female friends I got to know of in the beginning stages of our relationship through talks of her from my partner. I met her a few times and even though we did not get to interact that much, I still felt her presence, her elegance, her class, her warmth and her love. And I see myself in her (as weird as it may sound). She’s got the most amazing smile I have ever seen. Her life values and how she sticks to them is what makes her in my eyes an amazing woman. The way she always manages to put a smile on even when she’s going through the toughest of times. I love how she’s her own woman and doesn’t give into the pressures of this world. Yes, we’ve had very little one on one interaction but she’s the kind of friend I would like to keep around ’til the gates of heaven open up. I have gotten to love this woman with all of my heart, yes some may ask ‘but how so if you haven’t really gotten to personally interact with her?’ I know you can’t tell a lot about a person from social networks and all, but I feel her genuine self through our daily talks on BBM.
She’s beautiful, strong, courageous and loving. She’s my La-Toya Stone!!”

I read this message over and over again, once again in awe, amazed that a woman so beautiful, strong and brave could think so highly of me. I was proud at that moment to know someone so true, someone so loving and kind. And I was thankful that God brought her into my life.
I thanked her on Wednesday when she sent me the message, but today, I would like to thank her again. Thank you Katlego Matlala for the woman you are. Thank you for the mother, girlfriend, sister, daughter, niece and friend that you are. Your worth cannot be described or quantified. Your value surpasses that of all the gold and diamonds in the world. Your role in my life is priceless. I love you for the person you are and I will love you ’til the gates of heaven open up.

I love rainy days. Days like today. I love them. The air seems so much cleaner. I inhale it and I feel alive. I feel alive. Rain has a cleansing effect. It falls down to the Earth and wipes all the dirt away. It penetrates the ground and works its way through every soil granule and blade of grass it can find. It leaves its mark on everything it touches. It cleanses. And then, it makes way for growth. That is what rain does. It touches the Earth and makes flowers grow, it makes grass green, and it nourishes and feeds so that growth can take place. And after the rain has stopped, the dark clouds that once threatened are gone, and it leaves us with a beautiful rainbow and the sun that eventually makes its way through the clouds. I often wondered if it would ever happen for me… I often wondered if having life growing inside    me would be something I would experience too.  You know how those thoughts of doom and gloom enter your mind and try to convince you that it is merely something you will witness and never have the pleasure of experiencing first hand. And as the years rolled by, those thoughts grew and gained strength.  I had often obsessed over it. Pretended not to be bothered, but secretly obsessing over it. Until it consumed me.  When I lost my Father and my best friend, the obsession grew. Almost as though I were trying to replace these two lives I lost with another.
