A new life will enter this world soon, and I am so excited, feels almost like I am the Mommy :)
Yesterday, we had a baby shower for my friend Annelicia. In a few weeks she will welcome little Christian into the world. In a few weeks, her life will change dramatically.

There were lots of laughs yesterday at the shower. We had fun, shared stories and created bonds. The focus, however, was on my friend Annelicia.  She has been through a lot, she has experienced pain of different kinds, she has cried many times, she has given up a few times too. But yesterday, I looked at her and she was the epitome of joy. Her time has finally come, her rain clouds have given way to rainbows and sunshine. Her pain has been traded in for happiness. She is now anticipating the birth of her first child and there is nothing that could possibly bring her more joy than this.

Today, I would just like to tell my friend that I am happy for her. There is no one who deserves this more than you do. I have witnessed your pain, and now it gives me pleasure to witness your joy. I pray that God gives you the strength you desire. I also pray that God protects you and Christian, so that no harm may come your way. I know you will be an amazing Mother to him. I see how much you love him already and I can't help but think how lucky he is to have you for a Mother. Remember, God always gives us what we want, in His time. And your time has come Annelicia. I know you will take on this new role of Mom with all you have.

I am inspired by the gift of Life today.
Christian, we await your birth. We await your grand entrance into this world. We are waiting to welcome you with open arms and smother you with love. Just don't make us wait too long :)

I love you Christian, Aunty Toya cannot wait to meet you!!

I love rainy days. Days like today. I love them. The air seems so much cleaner. I inhale it and I feel alive. I feel alive. Rain has a cleansing effect. It falls down to the Earth and wipes all the dirt away. It penetrates the ground and works its way through every soil granule and blade of grass it can find. It leaves its mark on everything it touches. It cleanses. And then, it makes way for growth. That is what rain does. It touches the Earth and makes flowers grow, it makes grass green, and it nourishes and feeds so that growth can take place. And after the rain has stopped, the dark clouds that once threatened are gone, and it leaves us with a beautiful rainbow and the sun that eventually makes its way through the clouds. I often wondered if it would ever happen for me… I often wondered if having life growing inside    me would be something I would experience too.  You know how those thoughts of doom and gloom enter your mind and try to convince you that it is merely something you will witness and never have the pleasure of experiencing first hand. And as the years rolled by, those thoughts grew and gained strength.  I had often obsessed over it. Pretended not to be bothered, but secretly obsessing over it. Until it consumed me.  When I lost my Father and my best friend, the obsession grew. Almost as though I were trying to replace these two lives I lost with another. But continuously, I was disappointed. And so the thoughts grew.
