Our light...
There are times in life when you feel like you have no power. No control. Like there is no way out of a situation. You feel like your world is falling apart and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. We feel like we cannot do things. We do not feel the need to strive for better. There are those times. They may not be the same for everyone, but we do feel like that at times. I have felt that way before. I am not ashamed to say it. I would not be human if things always went right in my life, if I made no mistakes, if I did not stumble from time to time.
Our darkness makes us feel ashamed. Lonely. Not good enough. Our darkness is what makes us hide away from the rest of the world on those days when nothing goes right. Our darkness is that which we fear most. That is what I always thought. Until I realized that it was not my darkness. It was my light. That is what frightened me. All the things I was capable of doing is what scared me.
We are afraid of doing things, often not because we think we cannot do it, but because we think we are not good enough. We think we are not smart enough. We think we are not capable. We think we cannot do it. In times like these, we think it is our darkness. But it is not us allowing our darkness to take over. It is us hiding our light away. We hide it away because we think we will not shine bright enough. We will not shine like others do. Sometimes we are even afraid that we will shine brighter than others. We do not trust our own light.
Marianne Williamson wrote beautiful words that speaks of this. These words made me realize everything I said. These words gave me the courage to let my light shine through and do all the things I have always been afraid of doing. These words made me realize that even in those times where I feel like the world is an overwhelming place to be in, I still have my light. The darkness will be there. It may make an appearance from time to time. It might even be needed and good. But my light will shine through again. Sometimes I am still afraid of all the things I am capable of doing. Only now, I know what I did not know then. The darkness really is not all that powerful.
This quote is one of my greatest inpiration pieces of all time.

Remember, this light is in all of us, not just some of us. Walk tall. Walk towards the light. Your own light. Walk tall with your light.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
