Hold on until you're able to let go...
I was asked yesterday what makes a quote significant. My response was ‘There are a lot of things, but I think the most important is, you need to be able to relate to it.’ Then I was asked if it is profitable to absorb all these ‘wise’ people’s words and this time my response was ‘You can learn from it, just like you can learn from people you see every day. And you cannot relate to everything, but if you do find that one piece that you cling onto, why not?’ Then I was asked another question and it was ‘Learn what exactly?’ and to this, my response was ‘Learn. Anything. Something. That which you need. It can be anything for a number of people.’
And with that conversation, I started thinking. We all learn. Every single day of our lives we learn something. It may be great or small, but either way, we learn. So what if it is from a quote or something someone who had already died said? So what? If we can relate to it, if we can learn from it and if it helps us out of our dark corners, then why not cling to it?
I draw inspiration from words all the time. Things people say to me. Things I read. I get lost in words and quotes and books, because they help me out of my dark corners. Some people may not regard quotes as life altering words, but to me, there are some that are life altering. They make me feel better and I am able to learn from them. I draw inspiration from them. So I will continue to quote people and I will do it proudly. Words may mean nothing to some, but it might make a significant change in the lives of others.
Words are a lifeline. They are able to save you. What is your lifeline? Find it and hold onto it for all you’ve got. If it helps you, if it saves you, if it gives you strength, then hold onto it for dear life. Find your lifeline. Hold onto your lifeline. And when you are strong enough and you need to let go, then let go. When you are strong enough, you are allowed to let go. But when you need to hold onto something, anything, to find your strength, then by all means, hold on.
Hold on until you're strong enough to let go. Hold on until you're able to let go.
Take Care

this piece sounded almost like the first entry of my blog, where I spoke of words and how the words of others have helped me through the darkest times in my life. Words really are that powerful and that is why we need to use them wisely, just the right words can make someone's day or completely destroy it. with words, I have been able to find myself, create myself, learn and heal.
ReplyDeletegreat piece
I read your piece. Words truly are able to give you renewed hope, life; or they can damage you. So yes, choose your words wisely when talking to others. And we tend to forget the power of the tongue.
ReplyDeleteWords are most certainly my lifeline.
Thank you for reading :)
